What We Do
In what is often a traumatic and emotionally challenging time, our specialist social work, legal and mediation teams are here to offer critical support to children, families and individuals separated from their loved ones by international borders.
Our experience with complex cases of child welfare across the globe, means we have the capability to assist. We’re often the only people with the specialised skills and experience to navigate sensitive cross-border family negotiations.
We provide professional social work, legal and mediation services with the sole purpose of helping children and families resolve family disconnection.
We support children and families in Australia who are separated from family members by international borders, often in the most difficult of circumstances.
Our aim, where possible and appropriate, is to reunite children with their families and to help them rebuild and reignite a genuine family life and connection.
Family connection is an important part of human identity. It gives us a base to work from, an understanding of self that sets us up to become who we become. A family helps us to be us.
Yet for many people, that connection just isn’t there. It’s lost for a child who’s been illegally abducted overseas, sometimes through irregular intercountry adoptions, or simply to family instability across borders.
